Day 10 - Wednesday, March 31

Before I turn the page on the day, i forgot to mention the wine that Ramona let me sample - 19 Crimes aka Snoop’s wine - solid drink now for about $13.

After our small block party yesterday, Alex and I reheated leftover lasagna and i passed out around 9pm looking forward to getting back on the road. Before bed, we hatched a new plan: since shin is not 100% i wanted to find way to make progress and heal so i can get back to running. We decided the best approach would be to take the next 2 day stages of 36 & 40 miles which i was going to run and divide into 3 days of walking to give me a chance to start healing. If i don’t heal, then we will need to take a few days off.

I woke up with no alarm at 4:15am excited to get going. Shin is 7 of 10 issue right now with 10 being crisis. Ice, massage, wore compression socks, took Aleve and with my normal morning routine of coffee and yogurt parfait, Lucky and I hit the road 5:45am. The route began in thick fog so no moon or street lights to illuminate our path and thus the vlog is dark. The rolling hills continue in rural Georgia and the 22 mile walk in to Sparta GA, the next town from the RV Park, was uneventful.

Entering Sparta and for the first time in Georgia, I saw Ossof & Warnock signs. Like many of the other towns i have come through it looked as if the town had seen better days with most of the shops and restaurants on Main Street boarded up. On the other hand, it was not deserted like the other towns. In fact, i ran by man people that waved to me as i ran by.

Highlight of my day was running by a house of guys who asked me where i was headed to. After brief convo on Sparta, I learned they all love the town so I asked if they would be willing to share insights on video. They were happy to oblige and we went far beyond Sparta and into the state of race in America - I recommend watching because what they had to say is very powerful (The Guys from Sparta GA).

Home sweet home will be another Dollar General - this one in Sparta. Alex parked the RV away from the dumpster tonight!

Thank you all for the support -

Cheers!

p.s. please let me know if you have any critiques on the blog or vlog so i can improve it. Thank you -
