Day 88 - Wednesday, August 25
I ran alone today for the first time on this journey across the country. I thank all of you who reached out offering your support - I ran 36 miles yesterday and 37 miles today on that energy.
While I am deeply saddened by Lucky’s passing, I am also incredibly thankful for the 4 months we had after his initial diagnosis of Lymphoma when we almost put him down. In those 4 months we proved out that it is possible to continue with quality of life and quantitatively run 2,500 miles! I waited for him to let me know when it was time and yesterday he let me know that while he wanted to run, he just couldn’t and that it was time to sleep for good.
Today’s post is a celebration of the last 4 months as there will be no more new memories of Lucky going forward.
I look forward to running with you boy once again…
David.

David lives in Florida and Portugal with Mônica and their three rescue dogs. A portion of this book’s proceeds supports the charity.
